The Old Salopian Golfing Society (OSGS) is a part of The Salopian Club, which exists to:
- Encourage links, fellowship and support to and from Salopians of all ages;
- Organise a range of sporting, arts and other activities to foster camaraderie and better communication;
- Work with Salopians towards the success and prosperity of the School, and all those who attend it;
- Help Salopians to make the transition into their working lives and support the development of their careers.
The OSGS seeks to honour these aims above and uses Golf as a sport to bring like-minded individuals together who have all, at some time in their lives, had a strong connection to The Schools at Shrewsbury.
We play many fixtures on some world-class golf courses and enter teams into key Public Schools’ Events such as the Halford Hewitt Trophy, The Mellin Salver and the Graftom Morrish Events.
There is an annual Knock Out Tournament called The Campion Trophy: open to all members. This enables entrants to meet other Salopian golfers and play on their courses – which include St Andrews, Blackwell, Burnham & Berrow, Delamere Forest, Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool, Royal Lytham & St Annes, Royal St George’s, Royal Wimbledon, Walton Heath and The Berkshire, to name but a few.
We seek to encourage those at the school and those who have left to gain as much enjoyment as possible by playing golf together, reminiscing about old times and strengthening and making new friendships and contacts through golf across all ages of our membership.
